Why Vernon patients come to Bluebird for chiropractic care
Most of our chiropractic patients are from Greater Vernon — and the variety reflects the city itself. Active families coming off the Silver Star slopes in winter, weekend trail runners in Kal Park during shoulder season, mountain bikers on the BX network, golfers at Predator Ridge, and the desk-bound population that builds up neck and low-back tension over the winter months. We see the full range of presentations Vernon throws at us: acute back tweaks from a single bad lift, postural pain from screen work, sport injuries that didn't quite settle on their own, and pregnancy-related discomfort.
Dr. Steve Hofmann and Dr. Laura McPherson both practise from the same downtown clinic and collaborate on cases when their respective focuses overlap. Steve's emphasis runs to sport injuries, concussion management, and rehab; Laura's leans toward active families, pregnancy, postpartum, and pediatric care. If you're not sure who's the right fit, our front desk will steer you appropriately.
Common reasons Vernon patients book with us
- Skiing or snowboarding tweaks from Silver Star
- Kal Park trail-running overuse injuries
- Low back pain from desk work or commuting
- Headaches and neck tension building through the day
- Mountain-biking-related shoulder, neck, and low-back issues
- Pregnancy and postpartum musculoskeletal care
- Concussion follow-up after a Vernon-area fall, sport, or MVA
About the service
Chiropractic care is a hands-on, non-invasive approach to diagnosing and treating problems of the spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system — used most often for back pain, neck pain, and headaches.
Who you'll see
Dr. Steve Hofmann (sport injuries, concussion, rehab) and Dr. Laura McPherson (active families, pregnancy, pediatric) are both Doctors of Chiropractic at Bluebird and split the chiropractic caseload between them.
Getting to the clinic from Vernon
- The drive
- From most of Greater Vernon this is a five minute drive or a fifteen minute walk. We are in the middle of the downtown core, where the clinic sits on 29th Street between 30th and 31st Avenue, one block off 30th Avenue. Coming from the Hospital Hill or East Hill side you are dropping down into downtown; from the Okanagan Landing and Kin Beach side you are heading up 30th Avenue.
- Landmarks to go by
- Polson Park is the landmark most Vernon patients navigate by: we are a few blocks north of it, on the downtown grid. If you know 30th Avenue and the downtown shops, you already know the block.
- Parking
- Parking is easy by downtown standards. There is street parking on the block out front and public lots a short walk away in the downtown core. There is no clinic lot, so if the block is full the nearest public lot is the better bet than circling.
