Privacy Policy
Effective May 1, 2026
Bluebird Sport & Spine respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and applicable federal law.
What we collect
We collect personal information that's reasonably necessary to provide care and operate the clinic, including:
- Contact information — name, address, phone number, email.
- Health information — health history, examination findings, treatment notes, and other clinical records relevant to your care.
- Insurance and billing details — extended health plan information, ICBC claim numbers, and payment records.
- Booking and visit records — appointment history, cancellations, and communications about your care.
- Website activity — limited, aggregated analytics about how visitors use this site (page views, referring source, device type). See the Cookies and analytics section below for the providers we use.
Why we collect it
We use personal information to:
- Provide assessment, treatment, and ongoing care.
- Communicate about appointments, treatment plans, and follow-up.
- Bill insurers, ICBC, and patients, and process payment.
- Meet our professional, regulatory, and legal obligations (record-keeping, audits, regulator inquiries).
- Improve the clinic's services and this website.
How we store and protect it
Clinical records are kept in a secure clinic-management platform with appropriate technical and administrative safeguards (access controls, encryption in transit, audit logs). Payment is processed by reputable third-party providers; we do not store full credit card numbers on our systems. Paper records, where they exist, are kept in locked storage.
We retain personal health information for as long as required by the regulators governing our practitioners and by applicable law, then dispose of it securely.
When we share it
We share personal information only:
- With your consent — for example, billing your extended health insurer or sending records to another provider you've asked us to involve in your care.
- As required by law — for example, responding to a court order, regulatory inquiry, or mandatory reporting obligation.
- With service providers — software and payment processors that help us run the clinic, under contracts that require them to protect your information.
We do not sell personal information.
Your rights
Under PIPA you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request a correction if you believe information is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Withdraw consent for specific uses, subject to legal and contractual limits — this may affect our ability to continue providing care.
- Make a complaint to us or to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC (OIPC).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We'll respond within the timelines required by law.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses three analytics providers to understand aggregate traffic and improve the site:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — cookieless and privacy-respecting. Gives us page-view and referrer information without setting cookies, fingerprinting visitors, or sharing data with advertising networks.
- Google Analytics 4 — set up with IP anonymization enabled. GA4 sets
first-party cookies (named
_gaand similar) to count unique visitors and measure session activity. We don't use GA4's advertising features or share data with Google Signals. You can opt out of GA4 across the web by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. - EVL PPL — a privacy-light, first-party tracker for the clinic. It notes when a visit arrives from an AI assistant (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Gemini) and records contact actions — phone taps, email links, contact-form submissions, and online-booking clicks — so we can understand how people find and reach us. It reports only the event type, page address, and referring source; it does not collect personal information or the contents of any form.
The clinic's online booking and patient-portal functions are provided by a third party and may use cookies necessary for those services to work.
Third-party links
This site links to third-party services (online booking, mapping, social media). We're not responsible for the privacy practices of those services — review their privacy policies before using them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will reflect the most recent version. Material changes will be highlighted on the website.
