Coverage & billing
Insurance & Billing
A short, honest overview of what your coverage looks like and what you'll actually pay at the visit.
Extended health insurance
Most extended health plans cover chiropractic and registered massage therapy as paramedical benefits. The specifics vary widely:
- Annual maximums range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars
- Some plans require a doctor's referral for reimbursement (even though you don't need one to see us)
- Coverage may be per-practitioner-type or pooled across paramedical services
- Some plans cover a percentage of each visit (e.g. 80%); others have a per-visit cap
For chiropractic visits with Dr. Steve or Dr. Laura: we don't direct-bill any insurer. You pay at the visit, and we provide a detailed receipt (digital or printed) to submit to your insurer for reimbursement. Most major insurers turn this around within a few days.
For RMT visits with Julie: direct billing to most major extended health insurers is available. Bring your plan details to your first appointment and we'll set it up.
Before your first visit, the cleanest move is to call your insurer or check your plan summary to confirm your annual maximum, what's required for reimbursement, and whether a referral is needed. Questions about how it works at our end? Give us a call at (250) 545-7545.
Custom orthotics and insurance
Most extended health plans cover custom orthotics as a biomechanical or paramedical benefit, often once every 1–2 years and usually with a chiropractor's or physician's prescription. Coverage varies — confirm with your insurer before the casting appointment. We provide all the paperwork you'll need for the claim.
ICBC
We don't direct-bill ICBC. If you've been in a motor vehicle accident and want to be seen here, you'll pay for each visit at the time of treatment and submit your receipts to ICBC for reimbursement directly. We provide the clinical documentation needed to support your claim. If direct ICBC billing matters to you, you may be better served by a clinic that offers it.
WorkSafe BC
We don't accept WorkSafe BC (WCB) claims. If you're recovering from a workplace injury under a WorkSafe claim, you'll need to see a provider that bills WorkSafe directly.
Self-pay and forms of payment
Current rates are listed at the front desk and on the online booking page. We accept Visa, Mastercard, debit, and cash, paid at the time of the visit. Receipts are issued at every visit by email or printed at the front desk.
Cost as a barrier
If cost is a barrier to starting care, let us know. We'd rather have an honest conversation about what's possible than have someone avoid care they'd benefit from.
