Registered Massage Therapist

Julie Mohy

Registered Massage Therapist with a background in outdoor guiding and yoga teaching. Julie's practice spans therapeutic massage for active patients, women's health — including pre- and postnatal care and c-section scar-tissue work — and manual lymphatic drainage.

Background

Julie Mohy is a Registered Massage Therapist whose path to RMT work runs through years of moving, guiding, and teaching outside. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Adventure and Tourism at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and spent the years that followed guiding outdoor trips — from sea kayaking to hiking and everything in between.

That time outside, paying close attention to how bodies hold up under load, eventually pulled her toward a deeper interest in human anatomy and movement. She completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training and then enrolled at the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy, graduating as a Registered Massage Therapist. Since registering she has continued her education through the Dr. Vodder School, with a particular focus on manual lymphatic drainage and women’s health.

Approach

Julie’s treatment toolkit centres on trigger point therapy, myofascial release, deep tissue work, and manual lymphatic drainage, with a strong clinical interest in women’s health — pre- and postnatal care and c-section scar-tissue work in particular. A typical session starts with a focused conversation about what’s tight, what’s compensating, and what you’re hoping to get back to — and the treatment is built from there. She also draws on her yoga and breathing-techniques background where it’s useful, with cues you can take home and keep working on between visits.

She works with a wide range of patients: athletes between training blocks, parents through pregnancy and postpartum, office workers carrying postural tension, and anyone with the kind of soft-tissue dysfunction that’s easier to treat with a thoughtful pair of hands than with rest alone.

Outside the clinic

Julie’s drawn to a very active life — most herself in motion, whether that’s trail running, skiing, mountain biking, or paddling somewhere in the Okanagan. At home she’s busy with her young children, a garden, and a small flock of four chickens.
